We have recently written about the new Mercedes light commercial vehicle that is based on the Renault Kangoo. Well in response to this, it seems that Renault will be releasing phase 2 models of the van later on in the year. To look at the Kangoo is getting a slight make-over. It will be kitted out with a revised dashboard and for the first time will have start/stop technology included to make it more fuel efficient.
The Kangoo will still be available with the option of two wheelbases with three options for the engine; 75, 90 or 110hp. On top of this, unlike the new Mercedes Citan the service intervals are much further apart at 25,000 miles of two years.
With the start/stop technology onboard the new versions of the Kangoo return official combined cycle fuel consumption of 65.7mpg or 112g/km. In a bid to make the vehicles even more fuel efficient they will also come with a gearshift indicator as standard. On top of this there will also be an ECO mode which can reduce fuel consumption even further by 10%. It does this by reducing peak torque among other things.
There is also a new generation Electronic Skid Control (ESC) that will be available which will include hill start assistance and Grip Xtend which will help improve tractions in challenging situations. This will prove to be a good investment, especially over the winter months and should help reduce any claims made on van insurance policies.
Better quality materials have been used on the vehicle inside and out, especially in the cab. The radio/cd systems have been improved and as standard there will be USB and Bluetooth connectivity. If you opt for the sports version then you will receive in dash Tom Tom live along with other functions including the ability to read out emails.
