Glasgow City Council has added to their already extensive fleet of 200 Fiat Professional light commercial vehicles and now has 31 new Doblo Work Up factory-fitted drop side conversions. They have been added to be used by a few different maintenance departments such as roads and winter, cleansing and parks and homecare.
This is great news for the public as well as the council as there will now be more vehicles in the Glasgow region to deal with maintenance issues which will mean that the roads kept in better condition, this will help others save money on their commercial vehicle insurance. This will be done by the quality of the roads being increased and therefore less claims for damage.
All of the 1,000kg-payload Work Ups are powered by the 90hp engine which is a 1.3 litre diesel which also comes with a range of additional extras. Some of the options that you can go for are remote central locking, Star&Stop technology and Blue&Me which will have remote steering wheel controls. There is also the option of cold weather tyres which is perfect for the winters/springs we have been experiencing recently! Also some of the vehicles that the council have purchased will be arriving with a tail lift which will be fitted prior to delivery by George Newberry Coach Builders who are based in Coatbridge.
Emil Laiolo is the transport manager a Glasgow City Council and has said, “We are delighted with how the vehicles are performing and are looking forward to the addition of the new Doblo Work Up vehicles to the fleet. It has also been reassuring to know that we have the full back-up and resource of Imperial Commercials Glasgow who have understood our requirements and who have provided tremendous support throughout.”
The director at Fiat Professional UK, Sebastiano Fedrigo has said, “We are delighted that Glasgow City Council has chosen the Fiat Doblo Work Up. It has been designed to be top of its class in terms of performance and functional characteristics, capability and ease of loading. With its low running costs, low fuel consumption, comfort and safety we are confident that the vehicles will provide the council with an economical and reliable solution to meet their requirements.”
