Fleet Van has recently revealed its winners for the Fleet Van Awards 2012, ranging from vehicles made by Fiat, Volkswagen, and Mercedes. The awards ceremony was held in London last week, and now in its fifth year is seen as the benchmark awards for the light commercial vehicle industry, with trophies going to manufacturers, fleet operators and suppliers.
Probably one of the most significant manufacturing categories of the awards was City Van of the Year which was won by the Fiat Professional’s Fiorino. The Fiorino was commended for its latest Multijet II engines, economy, practicality, and the levels of fleet support and back-up through Fiat Professional’s dealer network. The Fleet Van of the Year judging panel said that “An excellent dealer network for back-up support and evidence of large fleet corporate wins, plus strong engines, good volume load space and competitive running costs – particularly on reducing downtime and SMR – put the Fiorino out in front. In a three-horse race, investment by Fiat in its market offering put it ahead by a nose.” Understandably, Sebastiano Fedrigo, director of Fiat Professional UK, was “delighted that Fiorino has been recognised by the Fleet Van judges” and went on to note that “When Fiorino was first launched it redefined the standards of its segment and it continues to provide customers with a winning combination of practicality, comfort, reliability, and economy.”
Volkswagen also did well at the event, winning three awards including Small Van of the Year for the Caddy, Medium Van of the Year for the Transporter, and the most prestigious title of Fleet Manufacturer of the Year. The judges stated there were various reasons for picking Volkswagen as winner of the Fleet Manufacturer of the Year, with one judge saying “Volkswagen have strength and depth in its product range, an excellent network of van specialists providing back up support to fleets, solid residual values on all its vans and good manufacturer support through its funding operations. It also has a highly trained and dedicated fleet team further supporting customers.”
Anyone looking to buy a new van in the next year will be sure to enjoy the range of vehicles presented with awards, but should also make sure to invest in van insurance to protect themselves and their new purchases.
