The Mini Clubvan, which has been on the cards for quite a while now, is set for its official launch at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mini has released details and images of the new, much hyped Clubvan.
The new Clubvan is based on Mini’s current Clubman model and the original, 1960s, Mini Van that featured in our Friday Five last week. Obvious similarities can be seen with both the original 1960s van and the current Clubvan. The concept Clubvan was first displayed earlier this year at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Clubvan, to many people’s delight, has now been confirmed for production. So it won’t be long until you are able to get a van insurance quote on the Mini. Prices will start at £11,175 excluding VAT.
The Clubvan is sure to be an extremely popular choice amongst all types of commercial vehicle drivers. It’s quirky and stylish and Mini have certainly exploited a gap in the commercial vehicle market as it offers something really quite different to an ordinary van and Mini are confident the Clubvan will sell like hot cakes!
The Clubvan will come with a maximum load capacity of 860 litres and a payload capacity of 500kg, so it’s not exactly going to be much of an option to those that require much larger load capacities, however it certainly will appeal to those that may have previously looked to buy any other small van, such as the Corsavan or Fiesta van for example. Is the small van market about to become dominated by the Clubvan?
The Clubvan will be available with three different specification engines. The basic “One” model will come with a 1.6 litre petrol engine with 97bhp. A more powerful 120bhp engine will be offered in the “Cooper” version whilst a “Cooper D” edition of the Clubvan will also be available with a 110bhp diesel engine. All three Mini Clubvan’s will come with a manual six-speed gearbox with the diesel version offering an automatic equivalent.
Van drivers of the world, is the Clubvan to your liking?
