There has been a video uploaded to YouTube of two ice-cream vans in a dispute over who should serve a particular street with ice-cream.
The footage has had more than 400,000 views and shows Mr Yummy, who is run by Zeheer Ramzan and Mr Whippy, who is run by Mohammed Mulla in a fracas on Palatine Road in Blackburn.
The incident happened on the 2nd of June and Mr Ramzan is apparently seen to be breaking the window of the Mr Whippy. After this Mr Mulla then drives into the back of the Mr Yummy van to eyewitness’ disbelief.
Many people who live in the street were shocked at the behaviour they saw as the neighbourhood is friendly and peaceful and there are also many children who live there, so this was by no means an exemplary example of how to behave!
Mobeen Yaseen is the eyewitness who filmed the incident and said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “I heard all this commotion and swearing and thought I’d film it.”
“My neighbour told me his daughter who is 12 or 13 was being served just before I started filming it when another ice cream seller starts shouting he could do the same ice cream 10p cheaper and the other one got annoyed and then it turned into a fracas.”
Mr Ramzan from the Mr Yummy van didn’t comment on the situation, however Mr Mulla, serving from the Mr Whippy van, said he suffered a panic attack because he was blocked in and that driving into the back of the Mr Yummy ice cream van was unintentional.
Although both vans will be covered by a commercial vehicle insurance quote this may not help them in this type of incident because the damage had been done intentionally to both parties. However, it is a good idea to be covered just in case you need to make a claim and are waiting for repairs, you don’t want your business to come to a standstill.
The incident is currently under investigation by Darwen Council and the Police.
