Volkswagen Launch Research Programme to Capture Commercial Market

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

Volkswagen Fleet Services has instigated an on-going research programme to find out exactly what contract hire and leasing customers want and need. The results will allow VW to make changes in order to help them attract new customers and they will compare their own performance with that of their main six competitors by quizzing thirty-four major leasing providers on nine core areas.

With the first round of results completed, VW have already started working on their ‘leasing improvement plans’ after reviewing the results and agreeing specific areas of enhancement that were identified in the results of the survey. All of Volkswagen’s Fleet specialist retailers will soon be using electronic delivery technology making the life of a fleet manager much easier and more effective than ever. Research will continue throughout 2012 to keep the results up to date and relevant to customers’ evolving expectations. VW want to sharpen their focus on what matters most to their customers and want to ensure they are fulfilling not just their own requirement but also the requirements of every fleet driver behind the wheel of a Volkswagen. The company realise that picking the right van to protect with commercial van insurance is a big decision for any fleet manager and they want to get across to fleet industry decision makers that VW should be their preferred choice.

Iker Lazzari, Volkswagen Fleet’s National Contract Hire and Leasing Manager, explained: “Part of the reason for commissioning the survey was a realisation that we didn’t know exactly what our partners in the contract hire and leasing sectors thought of the services we provided, and so it was going to be difficult to enhance our service offering. We recognise that our leasing partners are our customers, and if we want to be the best in the industry, we need to know how we are doing and where we can improve.”

Volkswagen Van Centre Set to Expand as Customers Look to Improve their Lifestyle

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Commercial drivers will be rubbing shoulders with campervan drivers at four new Volkswagen showrooms in the Greater Manchester area soon, as one of the leading commercial franchise owners plans to invest over a quarter of a million pounds in a new venture.

The Manchester Volkswagen Van Centre has traditionally dealt with customers who typically cover their vehicles with commercial van insurance but in a move that appears to be bucking the national trend, the centre is expanding to accommodate the growing trade in lifestyle vehicles such as motorhomes and especially camper vans. The centre based in Trafford Park will see workmen move in this weekend and spend the next three months creating new showrooms on two separate levels.

Owner Jim Hobson said: “The investment demonstrates our commitment to providing businesses, van drivers and lifestyle customers in Manchester with the highest standard Volkswagen facility, and our commitment to the city of Manchester is epitomised by the fact that all facets of the work will be contracted to local companies. The new showroom has a contemporary design and is in line with Volkswagen’s corporate identity.”

Visitors to the new showrooms will see a comprehensive selection of Volkswagen products including the Caddy, Combi, Transporter, Transporter Shuttle and the ever popular Crafter. Those looking for the more exotic offerings from Volkswagen will get the chance to test drive the all new Volkswagen California campervan, the Caravelle people carrier or even the tough, rugged Amorak, designed for doing the really hard work. The new showrooms will be open six days a week with staff moving up to a mezzanine floor to allow more space to show off the exciting Volkswagen range.

Volkswagen launch new scheme to promote Crafter Van

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

German manufacturer Volkswagen plan to give fleet operators the opportunity to road test their new Crafter Van for up to six months thanks to a ‘try before you buy’ scheme. They will be making about eighty vans available to fleet operators who they are confident will be buying the vehicle at the end of the six month scheme.

Every firm who takes part in the scheme will be required to stay in regular contact and give feedback throughout the six month period on aspects such as the increase in payload and torque, reduction in fuel consumption and the much lower emissions which the Crafter van offers. Fleet operators will be responsible for the van insurance quote, all fuel costs and the installation of any specialist equipment or conversions that are needed. The depreciation on the van will be covered by Volkswagen.

Alastair Hemmings, fleet manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said “We have found that simply supplying a vehicle to a customer for a week does not allow them to fully experience all of the benefits. Customers need vehicles that are to their specific requirements, that they can operate in their own individual environments and over a prolonged period of time in order to fully test them. We would prefer that the vehicles are sold to the customer at the end of the period although we do understand that some customers may wish to return them.”

Volkswagen are determined to make sure that the Crafter can experience the huge success they had with both the Caddy and Transporter models. They are happy for some conversion work to be done and if any vans are returned, they will be sold through their Van Centre Network. The scheme will also help Volkswagen produce vehicles that offer online van insurance quotes and build stronger relationships with their customers.

VW introduce national pricing service

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Volkswagen van drivers across the UK will be better placed to budget for their vehicle maintenance in future, as VW announce plans to standardise service costs across the nation.

In a move that will please most van drivers, Volkswagen have decided to introduce fixed pricing for interim and full service plans for their commercial vehicles at their van centres across the country. This will allow small businesses to incorporate costs into their business plans for the year very much like they would with their commercial vehicle insurance.

The price structure is already in place; the VW Caddy ranges from £89 interim to £199 for full. The T4 starts at £89 with the full service costing £229. The T5 interim service starts at £139 with the full costing £249. The LT full service is also £249 but the interim starts from £89. The crafter completes the range with interim costing £139 and full being £229. None of the prices include VAT and VW van drivers have until March 2011 to take advantage of the offer.

The offer will prove a big hit with van drivers knowing that they will be getting VW parts with the accompanying 2 year warranty fitted by VW mechanics.  A spokesman for Volkswagen said “Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is finally shattering any perception that it costs more to service a van at its Van Centres by the introduction of a national service pricing offer.”
