Network Rail signs fleet management contract with BT

Network Rail is known for having one of the most complex and biggest commercial vehicle fleets in the UK, which means that it is good news for BT Fleet who has just signed a contract with them to provide fleet management. BT will now manage almost eight thousand vehicles for National Rail, starting this month and will continue for five years. Furthermore, BT Fleet will also provide fleet management services, maintenance and accident management, and third party services such as glass, tyres, road-side assistance and vehicle hire.

Discussing the new contract, Network Rail NDS (national delivery service) business manager Emma Osborn said: “We selected BT Fleet as our fleet partner following a rigorous tendering exercise. They demonstrated excellent knowledge, capability and resilience in the management of complex operational fleets. We look forward to working with BT Fleet team to maximise the efficiency, compliance and availability of our vehicles.”

Meanwhile, David Bowen, BT Fleet managing director said: “This is great news for us and reinforces our credentials as the UK’s leading provider of fleet management services to operational fleets with a real focus on customer service.” BT Fleet currently manages over seventy five thousand vehicles in the UK, and has clients such as the AA, National Grid and Thames Water, meaning that they have a vast experience in managing commercial vehicles and can offer a myriad of services.

One of the services that BT Fleet offers is Accident Management, as they know how important it is for companies with a large fleet to keep all their vehicles maintained and that many do not have the time to deal with accidents or repairs. If a van owner is in an accident then they generally just call their van insurance provider in order to organise claims and repairs, however with large fleets having an accident management service is essential.

Not only does BT Fleet’s accident management service help with common vehicle problems such as accidents and breakdowns, it also provides online access to documentation such as reports and images. Furthermore, BT Fleet also performs audits and analysis data concerning accidents that can help companies reduce them in the future.
